Blacks in HIStory

While key black individuals are known for their contributions to history, it is not often known of their contribution to HIStory—God’s work in time. Today, the myth of Christianity being the white man’s religion has become more prevalent. Even Malcom X propogated this myth at one time when he said “Christianity is the white man’s religion. The Holy Bible in the white man’s hands and his interpretations of it have been the greatest single ideological weapon for enslaving millions of non-white human beings”. While misinterpretations have been damaging, accurate interpretations have also been liberating. Below are references for further reading on God’s impact in history, through Blacks and those of African descent.

In short, scripture demonstrates the involvement of Black people in Israel and the early church—prior to Europe even hearing of the gospel. The references below will further elaborate on that.2

Turning Point regularly highlights God’s impact through Blacks in History—including key events. One such event is a Blacks in HIStory Bingo game. Below are names of individuals that will be discussed during the game. If you guess the correct person, you place a marker on their name and the rest is normal Bingo. So, take time to learn of the individuals below and be ready to participate in the Bingo game. The church plays every 4th Sunday in February, but you can play on your own here: https://myfreebingocards.com/bingo-card-generator/preview/gntgdj
