What is Baptism?
Baptism is:
Examples of baptism include:
- an act of obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ, upon believing in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, in the process of becoming a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ ... Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9
- an "outward sign of an inward change" ... Romans 6:3-4
- a mark of Christianity, a symbol of salvation not the seal of salvation ... Romans 6:3-4; Mark 16:16; Ephesians 1:13-14
Examples of baptism include:
- Jesus by John (the baptizer) ... Matthew 3:13-17
- ~3000 by the disciples of Jesus ... Acts 2:38-41
- Eunuch by Philip ... Acts 8:36-38
- Lydia and family by Paul ... Acts 16:14-15
- Philippians Jailer and family by Paul and Silas ... Acts 16:27-34
